Unit 1, "The Planner’s Toolbox": Provides students with key terminology, a basic understanding of how the planning field works, and an overview of current focus points in the planning world.
Unit 2, "Transporting Change": Asks students to explore transportation in their community; which options do they have, which do they lack? How do these options impact the sustainability of their community?
Unit 3, "A World of Water": Guides students in examining and understanding the power of water; in terms of destructive capability and economic value.
Unit 4, "Building Sustainably": Leads students in an exploration of the fundamentals of sustainable urban design throughout the past, present, and future.
Unit 5, "Designing Communities": Supports students in a creative investigation of the design of their own community, and challenges them to identify influential factors within the built environment.
Unit 6, "Participating in Progress": Leads students through the process of uncovering systemic issues surrounding individual and community involvement in the planning processes.
This manual supports classroom leaders as they guide students in the active exploration of key planning topics related to water. Students are challenged to apply their science content knowledge to real-world scenarios.
