I am a freelance instructional designer living and working in the Washington, DC area. I began teaching straight out of my undergraduate education, where I majored in Childhood and Learning Psychology. As a science teacher working in DC-area schools, I quickly realized that my passion lay in exploring the nuts and bolts of how people learn. The joy of developing hands-on, innovative curricula that enables and empowers learners to apply what they know in real-world situations drove me to pursue a Masters in Education from the Johns Hopkins Univeristy School of Education, where I also earned graduate certificates in Neuroeducation and Technology Integration for Organizational and School Improvement.
Over the past decade, I've deeply enjoyed the opportunity to develop multiple educational programs, present at education and industry conferences, and to collaborate internationally to design learning experiences on a variety of topics. My work includes science education programs, community-development enterprises, and student socio-emotional development projects. I care deeply about environmental sustainability and social justice, and much of my work is focused on addressing these important issues.
